Types of Electronic Testing Equipment

CategoriesElectronic Equipment

People who are involved in electronic stuff must be familiar with the electronic testing equipment. Electronic testing equipment is very helpful to detect any faults in operating electronic devices. Such tools will create stimulus signals and record responses from electronic devices under the test. Actually, such electronic testing equipment is used to detect or troubleshoot any faults or abnormal functioning of electronic circuits. There are several types of electronic testing equipment. What are they?

1. Multimeter
The first type of electronic testing equipment is multimeter. This tool is an electronic instrument which is used to measure three basics electrical characteristics. They are resistance, current, and voltage. Multimeter actually has several functions. This equipment works just like voltmeter, ohmmeter, and ammeter. Further, this stuff is also used for household wiring, battery testing, power supplies, and electric motors as well.

A multimeter is a device which is featured with a needle above the numeric LCD digital display as the indicator. This device also has a function to examine the continuity between two points in an electrical circuit. Regarding the types of the multimeter, there are three types which can be found easily in the market. They are fluke multimeter, analog multimeter, and digital multimeter.

2. Ammeter
The second type of electronic testing equipment is you need to know is an ammeter. An ammeter is an instrument which is used to measure the electrical current in any circuit. The results of this measurement are shown by the units of electric current measurement called Ampere (A).

The smaller current is able to be measured by using milliammeters or microammeters. Those are the units of measurement which can be used for the smaller current which are in micro-ampere or milliampere range. There are several types of ammeters. They are moving-iron, moving-coil, moving magnet, and other kinds of ammeters.

3. Voltmeter
Another electronic testing equipment you need to know is a voltmeter. Just like the name of the stuff, the voltmeter is an electronic device used to measure the electrical potential difference between two points in electrical circuit or voltage.

Regarding the type of voltmeter, there are two kinds of voltmeter which are easily found in the market. They are the digital and analog voltmeter. The digital one will measure an input by converting it to a digital value and displaying the voltage in numeric form. The analog one will move the pointer across a scale in the exact voltage of the electrical circuit.

Those are some types of electronic testing equipment for you. Such equipment will be useful to detect or troubleshoot any faults or abnormal functioning of electronic circuits.
