Power adapters have outputs that are commonly used in handheld test equipment such as a multimeter and maybe appropriate to power many types of test equipment and multimeters including those manufactured by Agilent, Extech, Fluke, HP, MeterMan and Wavetek. However, you should always use the manufacturer's recommended power adapter whenever available.
