A BNC connector is a type of coax connector often used where shielded coaxial cable is required for signal connections or controlled impedance applications (to control standing wave ratios).

Typical impedances for BNC coaxial connector applications are 50 ohm (RF) or 75 ohms (video) and require coax cable, coax connector / adapters and coaxial terminations with impedances that match. The impedence for all accessories listed below is 50 ohms.
