SMA connector to N Type connector adapters are typically used to adapt handheld electronic test equipment or communications equipment to high power, high frequency communications systems.

The SMA connector is a small threaded coaxial signal connector generally used in high frequency applications up to 26GHz. It is often used on handheld or portable rf antennas or rf transmission systems where physical mounting space is at a premium.

N type connectors are often used as the RF connector / antenna connector on mobile or base station equipment because of its high power handling and good high frequency characteristics.N-type connectors are generally usable to 12.5GHz, with some connectors providing good results up to 18 Ghz
